The weekend of 10th and 11th November 2018 will see commemorations across the world of the hundredth anniversary of the end of the First World War, often referred to as 'the war to end all wars'. On Saturday 10th November, the eve of the centenary, Woodbridge Choral Society will be presenting a very special performance of Benjamin Britten's War Requiem at Snape Maltings Concert Hall. The unique opportunity to sing this particular work on this particular occasion in Britten's musical home will be a very great privilege and a wonderful way of contributing to the Armistice centenary.
We have created War Requiem 100 to highlight this special performance and a series of complementary cultural events which we will be organising in advance of the performance. We hope that these will help everyone to learn more about the music, the poetry and the images which most powerfully depict the impact of the Great War on humanity.
If you are planning to attend our performance, please note that the pre-concert talk will now take place at 6.30pm in the Snape Maltings Concert Hall, and not 6.00pm as previously advertised.
We are very grateful to our sponsors for their generous support of our performance:
